The 19th National PACTT Conference in Opole - A Recap

On 23–24 April 2026, we had the pleasure of attending the 19th National PACTT Conference - one of the most important gatherings of the knowledge and technology transfer community in Poland. We were particularly encouraged by the strong participation of representatives from the biotechnology sector, reflecting the steadily growing potential of this industry in Poland.

Two days of intensive conversations, panels, and discussions sent a clear message - we are in the midst of revolutionary transformation. Artificial intelligence has already made its way into most areas of our work, and the real question is no longer whether to embrace it, but how. How do we harness its technical potential while also using it to streamline administrative processes, reshape work organisation, and evolve our commercialisation models? These were lively and timely conversations, all the more relevant given the challenges ahead - from the development and deployment of machine learning models to equipping the next generation of professionals with the competencies they will need.

We were particularly impressed by the engagement of the Innovation Department of the Polish Patent Office, which is working on concrete tools to facilitate the evaluation of intellectual property value. Equally noteworthy is PARP, consistently developing support instruments for innovative projects at every stage of development.

Equally important are the ongoing efforts to develop common standards for commercialisation agreements and procedures, and to share best practices. It is precisely these activities that increase the prospects for more effective technology transfer to the economy.

We are returning energised and full of inspiration. There is much work ahead.
See you in Katowice at the next PACTT meeting - a milestone anniversary edition!
